UK mobile handset makers have been scarce since the demise of Sendo after an acrimonious dispute with Microsoft. But Velocity Mobile, based in Tunbridge Wells, has launched two smartphones using Windows Mobile 6.1. It teamed up with notebook designer Inventec to develop the Velocity 103 and 111. Both back twin cameras for video calls and snapshots, and support HSDPA and GSM/Edge, Wifi, Bluetooth 2.1, and GPS. The 103, which has a touchscreen, will be out this summer; the 111, with a Qwerty keyboard, will be available this autumn.

Don, great that UK maker Velocity Mobile has got a good working relationship with Big microsoft as it seems their OS win mob 6.1 is the bee’s knees! If I want to make a tiny web page for these mobile platforms, does it have to be on a .mobi or similar domain? Or any .com or .net? Thanks, GD. Australia
